Materials Expertise for Power Engineering

– from inspection outage to remaining service life

For operators of conventional, nuclear and renewable plants:
Hands-on materials consulting, failure analyses and on-site inspections – directly from the plant, not from the desk.

On-Site Inspection Expert Services Corrosion Consulting Materials & Welding Consulting Fitness-For-Service Forensic Failure Analysis

Power plants are under constant pressure – and so are your materials

  • Can this component still be operated safely – or does it need to be replaced?
  • Which material is truly suitable for these operating conditions?
  • How much longer will the plant operate reliably – and what do the standards say?
  • What caused the damage – and how do we prevent it from recurring?

Acute damage case or ongoing inspection outage?

We are reachable within 24 hours – worldwide, even at short notice.

STANDARDS EXPERTISE

Our foundation

API 579-1 / ASME FFS-1 BS 7910KTA 3201VDI 3822ASME B31.3DIN EN ISO 15614NACE SP0169DIN EN ISO 9712IAEA Safety Guides

Conventional, nuclear or renewable – we know the differences.

Conventional Power Engineering
CONVENTIONAL

Steam generators, turbines, pressure vessels. Creep and fatigue damage, high-temperature corrosion, HTHA, outage support according to API and ASME.

Nuclear Plants
NUCLEAR

Increased requirements for documentation and traceability. Material qualification and integrity assessment according to KTA 3201 and IAEA Safety Guides.

Renewable Power Engineering
RENEWABLE

Wind power, hydropower, geothermal energy. New loading profiles, service-life assessment for structural components, bearings and fasteners.

From practice – what we have delivered for operators

CONVENTIONAL POWER ENGINEERING
Creep Damage Analysis on a High-Pressure Steam Line

In-situ replication and metallographic analysis after an unplanned shutdown. Remaining-service-life assessment based on API 579.

→ Continued operation approved for 3 further inspection-outage cycles

NUCLEAR
Material Qualification of a Primary-Circuit Component

Complete materials characterization and standards-based documentation for KTA approval. Traceability of all testing steps.

→ KTA-compliant acceptance successfully completed

RENEWABLE POWER ENGINEERING
Failure Analysis of Rotor Blade Bearing on an Offshore Wind Turbine

Fractographic analysis after bearing failure. Cause identified: hydrogen embrittlement due to an unsuitable coating.

→ Protection concept developed, warranty claim enforced

What sets us apart from general testing laboratories

On-Site Competence

We come to your plant – direct assessment during ongoing operation or during the inspection outage, worldwide.

Standards-based & independent

All assessments based on API, ASME, DIN, EN, VDI, KTA – without ties to any manufacturer.

Holistic Assessment

From individual finding to system assessment – testing, analysis and recommendation for action from a single source.

Experience from Critical Plants

Power engineering places the highest demands on reliability and documentation – that is our everyday work.

Acute damage case or ongoing inspection outage?

We are reachable within 24 hours – worldwide, even at short notice.

When operators contact us

  • Before or during a scheduled inspection outage with open or unclear findings
  • After an unexpected component failure or damage event
  • In insurance or warranty disputes requiring clarification
  • When a decision must be made on the continued operation of a component
  • In case of conspicuous corrosion or damage without a clear cause
  • As external expertise to safeguard internal decisions
No acute case, but in need of advice? An informal initial assessment is also possible.

What operators want to know before their first inquiry

How quickly can you be on site in case of an acute damage case?
In case of acute need for action – e.g. during an ongoing inspection outage or after a damage event – we are usually on site within 24-48 hours. Please briefly describe the urgency in your inquiry so that we can prioritize accordingly.
Do you also work internationally?
We operate worldwide and carry out on-site inspections and consulting services abroad as well. For specific international projects, please contact us directly.
What does an initial assessment of my concern cost?
The first conversation to assess your concern is free of charge and without obligation. Only after joint agreement on scope and objectives do we submit a concrete offer.
How are results documented and handed over?
All results are documented in a standards-based test or analysis report – complete, traceable and ready for decision-making. Expert reports are prepared according to VDI 3822 with court-admissible documentation.
Can you also act as external expertise vis-à-vis authorities or insurers?
Yes. We prepare technical expert reports for insurance companies, legal disputes and official proceedings. Our reports are standards-based and designed for use in formal proceedings.
